This is an exciting development for Gnoppix! Migrating from Debian to Arch will provide a more stable and flexible foundation for the future, allowing for greater customization and innovation. The ability to choose from 16 different desktop environments is a significant improvement, offering users more freedom to select the interface that best suits their needs and preferences.

Desktop Environment Highlights
GNOME:
We’re actively working on GNOME from version 47.3 to 47.4, scheduled to begin in February. Stay tuned!
KDE Plasma:
Enjoy KDE Plasma 6.2.5, with an upgrade to version 6.3 arriving mid-February.
Test out the future with our KDE 6.3 Beta image featuring beta packages.
XFCE:
We’ve upgraded XFCE to version 4.20, with X11 recommended due to Wayland’s current instability.
Additional Enhancements for 25.2
- Security and Functionality:
- Wireguard-tools is now included to enable secure connections.
- Added new VPN hosts (US-central and Swiss)
- Added 3rd DoH Server cause of growing user base.
- The missing gnome-term package has been added! Thanks for bugreport.
- KDE Framework is slated for an upgrade from version 6.9 to 6.10 (to be implemented).
- User Experience:
- The kinfocenter application now features its missing logo.
- Our build environment for KDE (stable, unstable), GNOME (stable, unstable), and XFCE has been extended.
- Security audit on https://paste.gnoppix.org/ passed 🙂
- AI and Software Integration:
- AI Stable Diffusion is now at version 2.13.2.
- Beta Testing New AI Agent framework, simply automated you workflows on everything, added google API, AI maintains your mail,calendar, sheets, documents, AND storage and so on.
- Alpha-test: Gnoppix Copilot, with new voice input,output “hey gnoppix check how much disk-space is left on all server and send me an overview to my email” Back to the future. Please send us your commands which you would like to have.

- Essential Applications:
- Text to ASCII binary on https://tools.gnoppix.org/text-to-binary has been added
- Firefox is updated to version 134.0.2.
- The Linux firmware and utilities have been refreshed.
- The Linux kernel is bumped to version 6.12.10
- New packages (arch) have been created:

- The arcmenu has been added to the GNOME environment.
- System Stability:
- The Linux testing kernel has been upgraded to version 6.13.0. (not public)
- Developer Tools:
- Ollama 0.5.7 with CUDA support has been integrated into the repository.
- Command-Line Interface:
- Gnoppixinstall is now at version 25.2. migrated from Debian.
- OpenAI Compatibility:
- The OpenAI compatible compute API has been updated to version 0.5.14.
- Control and Automation:
- Gnoppixctl is now at version 0.2.0.migrated from Debian.
- AI Integration:
- Deepseek 1.3b with InstructQ8 (1.33gb) has been added.
- Bug Fixes:
- The missing distro icon on the GNOME info screen has been resolved.
- Missing dependencies in the Calamares build (version 3.3.13-4) have been addressed.
- fixes to performance-switcher, for significant game-performances while gaming.
- Beta testing now: benchmark-profiles better responsiveness on different infrastructures.
